The level of assessment can vary from reviewing a year's worth of electricity bills through to fitting energy meters coupled with data loggers that will monitor the electricity entering your property.

Optimising Existing Renewable Energy Systems

In some cases we do this to look at a site with existing generation to see how effective their offset of energy bills has been. Or to see whether battery storage can be installed to make better use of any renewable energy generated that has been exported for £/kWhr that could have used on site and saved £££/kWhr.

This is especially the case where renewable systems were built in the FIT (feed-in tariffs) era and rising energy costs mean it is now as important to use the electricity on site as to export it. FITs are still paid, but the offset of using your own electricity rather than exporting it for a low fee and buying it back 20 minutes later for 3 times the price is far more beneficial.

In some cases, for larger commercial customers, we have been able to use energy monitoring to segment their site, looking for pockets of high energy use. Once found these can be assessed in more detail, understand what is using the power and whether it can be economised.

For larger sites, where they may have specific energy hungry processes or equipment that are not a priority, we design the back up changeover system to isolate these, so that they don't need to be fed by the generator saving on fuel use and the capital costs of an unnecessarily large generator.
