Uigshader Living Forest Project is a community workshop and building on the Isle of Skye near Portree. The workshop was built by members of the community who were able to attract a small amount of government funding to help them to install power for local users.
Proterra Energy advised on the installation of a small segregated section in the corner of the workshop in which we installed an 8kW offgrid system, powered by solar panels in the roof of the workshop.
As well as installing the offgrid system, we supported the community members by installing lights and sockets throughout this uniquely constructed building.
We continue to work with the community group and are looking at installing remote communications for them to monitor their site, with the possibility of adding a micro wind turbine in the near future.
