Storms and Electricity: How Off Grid Energy Systems Keep the Lights On
For families, and businesses, storms are cool. They bring excitement, for about 25 minutes… Then they can bring chaos.
Storm Amy supplied that in early October 2025, right across Scotland. Power outages for some were short lived, and for others were a 4-5 day (and possibly more) pain in the backside. Storms aren’t new in Scotland but they are happening a bit more frequently now, and their impact on our lives has increased, especially when they occur “out of season” and throw trees about the place and onto the power lines.
This was an opportunity for the off grid sites we manage to perhaps feel a little bit more satisfied about the kit they have invested in, and for those on grid but with off grid energy capability it was a true test of why they installed the systems they did.
We were affected like many others, and some of our folk used our own kit to keep their lights on. We were also available over the stormy weekend supporting Clients from Islay to Sutherland and Moray to Lewis.
Because of the off grid work that we do, we have also invested in our own site generation, which can be configured single or 3 phase to suit, so next time the storms come, if you need emergency power, let us know.
