Highland's Dispersed Generation: Local Power Maps

Highland Council recently posted this really interesting map to LinkedIn and it gives a good insight into the larger renewable energy systems in the Highland Council area. These are the big contributors, however there is an equally important layer of generation that sits below this – smaller in scale, but equivalent, or greater in impact in some respects.

Powering Scotland and Highland renewables

This is Dispersed Generation, so bigger than your typical domestic installation, but not MW scale as shown on the map. It can provide a lot of useful generation to an area like the Highlands, but without some of the contentious matters set out, in terms of local environmental impact, or the need for as many large grid upgrades and what comes with that.

We've included a map of our own hydro, wind and solar installations, our wee contribution to this journey in our energy transition over the last 12 years.
